All pens use 10 carat cobalt gold plated fittings, the refills and writing mechanisms are from a top quality German pen parts manufacturer. The boxes are made from maple and each end of the box is finished in rosewood which also come from sustainable sources.The two timbers available, oak and rhododendron are all sourced locally, cut and dried by 'Pens of Distinction' and then turned on a lathe to make the pens. Oak is recognisable due to its popularity and is a favourite timber for many cabinet makers. Rhododendron is different as it is considered a weed in the forest and is cut and burned as it chokes the forest floor and spreads very quickly. The rhododendron used is Rhododendron Ponticum and can be found up to 14 inches in diameter. It can be a variety of colours ranging from pink to orange, tan, brown, purple and white. This is the only timber that is cut as a living plant which helps forest growth whilst supplying timber for pen supplies.
